Physical Appearance: Mika is pretty short, just above five feet, but currently in the midst of a growth spurt; it's not unlikely for her to put on a few inches before the end of the game.
She wears her hair in pigtails near-perpetually.
Outside of school, she tends to dress appropriately for someone about five years younger than she is, and this combined with her short stature and the pigtails means that she's often mistaken for an elementary school student. Bright colors, glitter, and anything with stars on it. (This is not that uncommon, though.) Maybe she just hasn't bought new clothes in that long?
Her VR avatar is a space marine with constellation-patterned, futuristic body armor. She bears a suspiciously close resemblance to the lead character of a certain popular sci-fi game franchise.
Personality:
If you ask Mika to describe herself, her answer will be that she is a good person. She works very hard to be a good person, in fact, so she doesn't see the need to be humble about this. She is a serious student, a dutiful daughter and sister, and a courteous member of the community. She sees an obligation in aiding others in trouble, in pain, or in a mild state of inconvenience. But it is obligation, and no less; she doesn't necessarily feel happy about fulfilling it, and she doesn't necessarily empathize, only assists.
In fact, Mika is not above lashing out at other people in times of stress. When there's nothing she can do to fix a situation, she gets quite upset. She is, at times, surprisingly short-tempered. She can find fault in other people fairly easily, but she chooses not to act on it most of the time. If she does snap at someone, she aims low, and it is not unheard of for her to really hurt someone's feelings...but then, of course, she's back the next day with a homemade treat and an apologetic note.
She confronts her responsibilities head-on, and she confronts most problems head-on as well. She is not a procrastinator, but she understands by now that other people are. Mika tends to be of the opinion that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. She doesn't expect to rely on people; she expects to be the person others rely on. Despite her own high standards, she knows that she can't fix people.
Teachers almost universally love Mika. She has a sharp mind and a proactive approach to her schoolwork, and most other things. She's serious, not much for messing around or making a fool of herself in class. She does have a sense of humor, but she puts it aside when she considers it to be time for work (which, lately, is most of the time).
Mika does have some indulgences, though. Most distinctively, she loves both science-fiction and science-fact. She holds a lifelong ambition to become an astronaut; talk to her about space, and watch her eyes light up with an enthusiasm that she doesn't quite seem to manage with anything else. She will talk about galaxies, comets, and stars for hours, possibly, before realizing the other person may not be as interested as she is. For someone who theoretically must be very mature, she has her moments of being surprisingly childlike.

Mika is a lifelong Tokyoite, and the second of three children. Her family has lived in Suginami Ward for about nine years. Her mother, the family breadwinner, is a salary-woman at a large company, and her father spent the children's formative years as a stay-at-home dad, although he has since returned to work part-time. There were some rumors around the neighborhood when they first moved in that they had to leave their old neighborhood because of some “trouble” with Mika's mother, but of course the local gossips have long since moved on.
Mika has an older sister, aged 21, who is now off in America somewhere; in her own high school days, she was known to be a yankee and a troublemaker (although Mika admires her hugely). She also has a younger brother, now 8, a shy and reserved young boy. Mika herself was class representative all three years in middle school; she was also president of the middle school astronomy club.
Misc/Additional:
-Her birthday is February 17th.
-People often copy homework from her, and she doesn't discourage it. In fact, she has been known to slightly rewrite copied answers for people so it doesn't look like they plagiarized. She has a reputation for being a pushover to that extent - a proactive go-getter of a pushover.
-More recently, she seems a bit listless, more exhausted, more frustrated than she used to be. But that's probably just her being a teenager.

Guardian goddesses known as the Auroras. They guard the doomsday hound, Simargl, who is chained to the star Polaris in the constellation Ursa Minor, the "little bear". If the chain ever breaks, the hound will devour the constellation and the universe will end.
